Supported Elements and Mapping¶

The following table provides an overview of Revit elements supported by the SOFiSTiK FEA Extension:

Materials Partially The FEA Extension tries to map Revit Materials to SOFiSTiK materials, based on the physical properties of the material defined in Revit.
Sections Partially The FEA Extension tries to identify the sectional geometry of columns and structural framings and maps them to SOFiSTiK cross sections. Varying sections are not supported.
Grid Lines Yes Straight and curved grid lines are exported to SOFiSTiK for visualization in Wingraf.
Story Levels No Level information is not transferred to SOFiSTiK.
Structural Columns Yes  
Structural Framing Yes  
Trusses Partially The geometry and sections of the truss are recognized. Normal beam elements are created based on this information.
Braces Partially The geometry and section of the bracing element are recognized. Normal beam elements are created based on this information.

Walls Yes Straight and curved walls including openings are supported.
Floors Yes Horizontal and sloped floors with any kind of boundary or opening geometry are supported. Varying thicknesses only considered for simple shapes.
Foundations Yes Fixed supports are created at the position of a point or line foundation.
Support Conditions Yes Elastic and rigid support conditions are supported in global as well as local coordinates.
