Superstructure

Create

You can create a superstructure component along the chosen axis. Component’s geometry is defined by the Profile Family and additional parameters.

  1. Click SOFiSTiK Bridge tab > Create panel > icon_Component (Component) drop-down > icon_Component_Create (Create)

  2. Select an axis.

    SOFiSTiK: Component dialog displays.

    ../../_images/mpic_component_dialog.png
  3. Select Revit Profile Family and other settings and confirm with OK.

Family

  • Profile Family - select a Profile Family to place it along the axis and create a 3D solid.

  • Parameters - you can give a constant value to the parameter or assign a parameter to the variable or secondary axis. The parameters will be filled with the proper value according to the chosen variable along an axis.

  • Shape Handle Points - you can assign the shape handle point of the family to the selected axis or secondary axis. Assigned point will follow the curve along the axis in the Bridge Profile plane and influence the profile geometry.

Note

Shape Handle Points needs to have a name in order to be shown in the table.

  • Match Type parameters - you can activate this option to match the parameter values between two types of the same family, by profile selection.

Create Component

  • Family Name - you can name the superstructure coponent according to your wish. You can use also keys listed below to enhance component name with additional information e.g. Component_{axis_name}-{start_placement}-{end_placement}
    • axis_name

    • start_placement

    • end_placement

    • start_station

    • end_station

    • family_name

    • type_name

    • material

    • subcategory

  • From/To - select the start and end points of the component

  • Material - select the material for the component

  • Category - select infrastructure category, that will be assigned to created component

  • Subcategory - Select the subcategory of selected category for component. You can manage subcategories Object Style Dialog (Revit Manage Tab)

  • Form - Select whether Solid or Void form will be created

  • Placement Rotation - for inclined support and abutment situations a rotation of the superstructure cross section at the placements is necessary. The superstructure geometry is projected (Shear Mapping) on the placement’s plane, which includes a change of the section profile dimensions. This is the default setting. Alternatively it is possible to discard any rotation.

  • Properties - you can assign Superstructure Properties (such as host Axis, Placement Start/End, Station Start/End) to the selected Shared Parameter.

  • Check self-intersecting geometry - additional check and correction (division) of created solids in the component family will be performed. Relavent in case of significant curvature of axis.

  • Profiles at all discontinuities in variables - component will be created with profiles at stations where discontinuities of variable occure.

  • Linear interpolation of profiles - Component will be create using only two profiles at start and end station.

  • Ignore placement locations - Component will be created without influeance of placements between start at end placement. Rotation of these placements will be ignored and profiles will not be placed at placement stations.

  • Ignore vertical alignment discontinuities - Component will be created without consideration of discontinuities in vertical alignment. Please consider activating this option in case you define the vertical alignment without transition curves.

  • Process immediately - if deactivated, defined Superstructure component (or changes) will be saved and lsited in Infra Browser panel, but the component will not be created (or updated) immediately after confirming the definition. Superstructure component will be generated after Refreshing the Axis or by selecting correspoding command (Refresh Element or Process Pending) in Infra Browser panel.

Edit

Edits previously created component. You can easily apply any changes in Component Dialog and update your structure.

  1. Click SOFiSTiK Bridge tab > Create panel > icon_Component (Component) drop-down > icon_Component_Edit (Edit)

  2. Select a component.

SOFiSTiK: Component dialog displays with previous input data.

  3. Adjust the parameter values and other settings and confirm with OK.

  4. The component is updated according to the current definition.

Disconnect

Disconnects component from its axis. Element loses dependency to the axis. Changes applied to the axis will not influence the component.

  1. Click SOFiSTiK Bridge tab > Create panel > icon_Component (Component) drop-down > icon_Component_Disconnect (Disconnect)

  2. Select a component.

  3. Component is disconnected from its axis.

Set Axis

Assigns component element to selected axis. Component is dependent to the axis.

  1. Click SOFiSTiK Bridge tab > Create panel > icon_Component (Component) drop-down > icon_Component_SetAxis (Set Axis)

  2. Select a component.

  3. Select an axis.

  4. Component is assigned to the chosen axis.

Duplicate

Duplicates selected component. Components properties, such as Family Type, Stationing etc., can be adjusted before the new component is generated.

  1. Click SOFiSTiK Bridge tab > Create panel > icon_Component (Component) drop-down > icon_Component_Duplicate (Duplicate)

  2. Select a component.

    SOFiSTiK: Component dialog displays.

    ../../_images/mpic_component_dialog.png
  3. Adjust properties of the component and confirm with OK.

  4. New component is generated.

Repeater

You can create a repeated superstructure component along the chosen axis. Component’s geometry is defined by the Profile Family and additional parameters.

  1. Click SOFiSTiK Bridge tab > Create panel > icon_Component (Component) drop-down > icon_Component_Create (Create)

  2. Select an axis.

    SOFiSTiK: Component dialog displays.

    ../../_images/mpic_component_dialog_repeater.png
  3. Select Revit Profile Family and other settings and confirm with OK.

Create Component

  • Between Placement - component will be created between each selected placement

  • Apply layout rule - select layout rule to be applied between each two selected placements

  • Family prefix - you can give the prefix for Family Name and use listed keys (see naming in create paragraph)

  • Sequence format - you can define the sequence for created component using given keys and standard numeric format strings e.g. {start_placement}-{end_placement} ({#:D})

More infomation you can find here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/standard/base-types/standard-numeric-format-strings

Offset

  • At Start - you can define a start offset at the beginning of component repeater

  • At End - you can define an end offset at the end of component repeater

  • Gap between - you can define a gap between each generated component

Match Parameters

You can adjust one or more components with the parameters of another component of the same profile family.

  1. Click SOFiSTiK Bridge tab > Create panel > icon_Component (Component) drop-down > icon_Component_Match_Parameters (Match Parameters)

  2. Select a source superstructure component.

  3. Select one or more target components.

  4. Parameters of selected components will be adjusted according to the source component.
