Spring elements describe an elastic connection between two structural elements.
Spring elements between structural elements can be given an explicit value, by defining a material with bedding properties or by defining a spring work law.
Local directions are given by the local direction of the structural line.
A bedding can be defined to fail in tension in a non-linear calculation (specify Yield Stress = 0 in the material bedding properties). These effects can be considered only when using a non-linear calculation.
A detailed description of these properties can be found in the chapter ‘SLNS – Supports and kinematic couplings on a SLN’ of the manual SOFiMSHC.
