The following list presents new features and issues resolved within SOFiSTiK Analysis + Design. These issues are often directly reported by our users by contacting the support_assistant_small SOFiSTiK Technical Support or the SOFiSTiK Communities.

2021-13.1 Update Release (09.12.2021)

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed licensing issue where valid license configurations were not recognized.

2021-13 Update Release (06.12.2021)

Features

  • Improvements of Export to Excel for Supports: Inheritance of the SOFiSTiK_Name attribute from the corresponding load-bearing elements; grid location information has been added 194307.

  • Now, a warning informs the user when the low information quality of a Revit material leads to the mapping of a default SOFiSTiK material.

  • Beam Design and Column Design now issue a warning when a linear load case used in a combination does not exist in the database.

  • Improvements to Publish Results: The Pack dialog now shows a recent location list across all projects. In addition, a success-message is displayed after the export of the files.

  • Adjustments to the License Warning dialog to improve understanding and required steps for license updates.

Bug Fixes

  • Improvement in the cross section mapping of steel profiles, especially in the fields of: geometry detection of profiles, hollow steel profiles, profiles close to standard SOFiSTiK steel profiles 194247.

  • General improvement of the behaviour when opening the Revit project by drag and drop.

  • Fixed issue leading to crashing of Revit when scrolling with the mouse in dialogs with long tables.

  • Export to Excel Support Results from Area Boundary Conditions are now filtered out.

2021-11 Update Release (06.08.2021)

Features

  • The default Column Design report now also prints out the required reinforcement ratio.

  • The license information dialog has been fully reworked providing better guidance to the user in invalid licensing situations.

2021-10 Update Release (11.06.2021)

Features

  • To get started with SOFiSTiK Analysis + Design, a new tutorial: Reinforced Concrete Building in Revit is available in the documentation SOFiSTiK (FEA) Tutorial 2020.

  • Improvement to Export Storey Levels: now supports the auto-detection of lower-most level in a project if no foundation slab is being used, e.g., point or line supports.

Bug Fixes

  • Improvement in filtering invalid Revit loads and load combinations when exporting systems.

  • Fix of Show Results to properly display mesh for detached parts of a single ceiling slab, e.g., areas with increased thickness at columns.

  • Resolved an issue that has caused an empty Autodesk Revit dialog in certain situation.

2021-9 Update Release (20.04.2021)

Features

  • Improvement in the Cross Section Mapping mechanism, now the automatic mapping recognizes and accounts for polygonal openings in sections.

  • Improvements to the Publish Results dialog and the the naming scheme for the analysis of subsystems and the design of columns and beams:

    • The report scheduler now includes the report type for more convenient sorting.

    • The chapters of the report now include report type and design group name in the title.

  • Polygonal Cross Section dialog: the sum of reinforcement area by layer displays live modifications applied to a specific reinforcement placement.

  • The mapping of polygonal cross sections with non-standard materials has been improved.

Bug Fixes

  • Mapping has been improved to handle better cross sections with unsymmetrical geometry, e.g., L-shaped cross sections 184485.

  • Adjustments in handling of Tendon layouts in slabs

    • User defined layouts for Tendon projections in slabs were not handled correctly 185456.

    • Automatic layouts of Tendon projections in slabs were not handled correctly 185976.

    • Updated the documentation, see Lines > Tendon Projection.

  • Correction in Show Result: in specific cases, the reaction forces were placed in opposite order along the support line.

  • Solved issue which prevented Load Takedown from finding some reaction loads in the source subsystem 186317.

  • Export to Excel now provides a list of all SOFiSTiK IDs associated to a single Revit ID in the Supports sheet. See the completely updated documentation Export to Excel for a full list of exported information.

  • Fixed issues regarding user input under Project Settings > Advanced Settings.

  • Only settings compatible with workflow using Revit as pre-processor are available in the System Information dialog.

  • Improved update behavior of the SOFiSTiK Structural Properties panel when changing selection.

  • Project Coordinate System Offset (Z coordinate) is now respected during Storey Level export 186613.

  • Improvement of edge release definition for slabs in 2D subsystems 185921.

2021-8 Update Release (12.02.2021)

Features

  • Improvements of Show Results

    • Performance increase by by loading fewer LC upon activation.

    • Legend extended with Data source, Load case and Result type information.

    • Values of Cutline results shown as zero for segments without area element, e.g., openings (formerly linear interpolated between edge values)”.

  • Additional LOG file entries to improve Trouble Shooting for Worksharing scenarios 181798, 183655.

  • Extended Export to Excel functionality by providing more information about elements, e.g., cross section definitions.

  • Dynamo scripts can now handle more than 32 CDBs.

Bug Fixes

  • Improved consistency by load case allocation for Load Takedown, when load case numbering of self-weight varies between source and target subsystem: the load case hosting the source subsystem’s self-weight also hosts the supporting elements’ self-weight.

  • Fixing small inconsistency linked to language settings as well as UTF-8 encoding.

  • Improvements to consideration of user input under Project Settings Advanced Settings 182801.

  • Solved issue with Building Graph initialization from CDB 183310.

  • Fixed an issue in Analysis Task where in some situations the task did not close automatically.

2021-7 Update Release (04.12.2020)

Features

  • A new way of handling run-modes for SOFiSTiK Analysis + Design. It’s much easier and hassle-free, providing the best user experience without having to worry about settings. For more information, see Licensing.

  • Enhancements for Show Results

    • Support of analysis results for Trusses and Cables in addition to normal beam elements.

    • With Optimize View it is easier than ever to visualize the results more effectively by applying temporary view properties.

    • More consistency when displaying results in 2D Plan Views.

    • More consistency when displaying results with View Port on a sheet. The visualization of results is still supported and gets updated when results change. To edit Show Results, please refer to the respective view. It can no longer be triggered within a view port.

    • Show in a New View offers settings to Apply View Templates and Link View Templates.

  • Multiple improvements when working with Polygonal Cross Sections

    • It is now possible to Move, Copy, Rotate and Mirror rebars.

    • Beam sections support SOFiSTiK rebar layers convention, allowing for Show Results to deliver the required upper/lower rebars.

    • Column sections are handled as such and thus becoming available for Column Design.

  • Better user experience through extended visibility checks of analytical object categories during analysis of subsystems.

Bugfixes

  • Correction of defined stress limit and the input of the KAPA factor in Prestressing Workflow 177561.

  • Inconcistency in the handling of the SOFiSTiK subfolder has been fixed. SOFiSTiK Reinforcement Generation now abides by the new naming pattern.

  • Create Subsystem by Level no longer misses hosted loads on beam elements.

  • Shear reinforcement for some beam elements displayed incorrectly in Show Results.

  • Units and handling for Rotational Line Spring Coefficient rectified 181552.

  • Some area loads were undividable into load pattern. This issue has been fixed 179856.

2021-6 Update Release (25.09.2020)

Features

  • The SOFiSTiK Support Assistant as well as the SOFiSTiK License Manager are now available in SOFiSTiK Analysis + Design. The former helps to initiate a support ticket and collects relevant log files and drafts an email to send out to the SOFiSTiK Technical Support Team. The latter allows you to check and update SOFiSTiK Licenses.

  • The naming pattern for the SOFiSTiK subfolder has been adjusted to allow for better versioning and design comparison. Going forward, the subfolder name includes the current Revit file name, e.g. Project1.sofistik. If the Revit model is saved under a new name, a new subfolder will be created. This behavior is only triggered for projects without an existing .sofistik folder.

  • A new algorithm for Load Pattern allows for more complex load configurations.

  • The new Project Settings Dialog offers a unified experience for both Stand-alone and Interface to FEA runmodes. It also contains all the settings previously found under SOFiSTiK Data Management which has been discontinued.

  • New usability features for the Polygonal Cross Section Dialog make it even more convenient to define rebars for arbitrary cross sections.

  • Newly created SOFiSTiK files (.dat) will get stamped with the current build number to allow for easier trouble shooting when contacting the support.

Bugfixes

  • Cutline results are now visible in subsystem views.

  • Copying of elements belonging to a design group no longer causes an exception.

  • Show Results no longer incorrectly shows multiple results and reinforcements for a single load case.

  • Multiple improvements to the Prestressing Workflow. 1) User defined prestressing systems now show Pmo and Po,max in reports. 2) User defined stress limit now supported. 3) Prestressing direction from both sides now supported.

  • Subsystem View and Subsystem Views by Levels now account for analytical nodes and SOFiSTiK functional lines (results cut lines, tendon projection etc.) if these objects are visible in the active view.

2021-5 Release (09.07.2020)

Features

  • The Ribbon Bar got a new look

    We rearranged and renamed some of the groups in the SOFiSTiK Analysis Tab to better reflect the intended workflow. It is now easier than ever to analyze and design your projects with all the relevant commands at your disposal!

  • Show Results and Result View

    It is now possible to visualize and results directly within Revit. The newly implemented Result View gives you access to the results of analysis and design calculations alike. For further information, see Show Results.

  • Publish Results

    With this new feature, it is easier than ever to collect, review and export result reports for all analysis and design calculations. More info can be found here: Publish Reports.

  • Slab Design has been fully reworked and Slab Design Result Content added.

    It is now possible to choose between automatically or globally defined load combinations for the design and a linear deflection check has been implemented. In addition, the output can be controlled in the Slab Design Result Content settings. For more information, see Slab Design.

  • Column Design

    The general method has been discontinued. Going forward, only the nominal curvature method is supported within Revit. To access the general method, please use the interface to SOFiSTiK FEA.

  • Beam Design now supports multi-layered reinforcement in the bottom of the cross section.

  • Load Combinations is a brand new feature that helps you to manage globally defined load combinations with enhanced SOFiSTiK functionality.

  • Polygonal cross sections can now be created from existing standard cross sections and modified, e.g. additional reinforcement layers can be added. Further options include enhanced settings for torsion and shear deformation behavior.

  • Analytical check (now called Check) got a rework, including the new Kinematic Stability feature.

  • The parameter SOFiSTiK_DesignReinforcementRatio has been added to the shared parameters exported by Column Design.

  • Dynamo Package for SOFiSTiK Analysis + Design is now automatically installed and ready to use.

Bugfixes

  • Export of Revit Axes now fully supported. Priorly, only axis names up to four characters and without special characters were exported correctly 172894, 173446.

In addition, all bugfixes regarding SOFiSTiK Analysis + Design 2020-05 Update Release (09.07.2020) have been implemented as well.
