Reference point entry#

Any point entry required by a program command (e.g. start point, end point) can be made via any reference point. If a command is active, you can place the reference point on an object with the mouse, simply by pointing. This reference point is represented by a white cross. This input option is made even easier by the AutoCAD object snap track (F11) and track tracking (F10).

** Example: ** A line should be drawn from an end point at a distance of 3 meters in the X direction.

  • Show the end point with the mouse (object snap (F3) should be switched on).

  • Drag the crosshairs in the X direction and enter the number 3 using the keyboard.

Note

You can make settings for object snap, tracking, ortho mode, etc. in the status bar.

In addition, when entering SOFiCAD objects, it is possible to enter a reference point using the “Enter” key.

** Example: ** A height mark should be drawn from an end point at a distance of 2 meters in the X direction.

  • Choose the command ** Höhenkote **

  • Press ** Enter **

  • Click on the end point (reference point) from which you want to enter the structure point at a distance of 2 meters in the X direction.

  • Point the mouse in the X direction, enter “2” on the keyboard and confirm with the ** Enter key **

In this example, too, object snapping and tracking should be switched on.

However, these input options are only available in the current coordinate system. If you want to show a distance that does not go in the x or y direction, but at an angle to it, you have the option of changing the angle of the polar snap.
