Connects thin-walled elements with each other.

A thin-walled shear connection is used as a shear-resisting connection between several thin-walled elements and/or thin-walled profiles.

Applications:#

The following applications can be described by using these elements:

For stress check: * Longitudinal seams of welded joints * Buckling fields of thin-walled sections

For shear force check: * Shear bonds in composite sections * Trussed walls

Information regarding assignment of construction stages, please refer to the Construction Stages of Cross Section Parts.

A detailed description of these properties can be found in the chapter ‘WELD - Welded Shear Connection’ of the manual AQUA.

Available options:#

For the creation of thin-walled shear connections, the following options are available:

Pick Points

Creates an element with the input of a minimum of 3 polygonal points.

Pick Lines or Curves

Creates an element by enclosing an area with the selected objects. Valid selection choices include closed polylines and lines.

Single Element Mode - Polygonal Input

Switches between the polygonal input type and entry of a single element. Single element mode always asks for the start and end point of a new element.
