Create tendon geometry and tendon as polygonal geometry using an axis geometry.

Once you have selected a geometric axis the PT-Editor is opened (further information regarding the definition of geometric axes can be found in the chapter CABD-technology).

A graphical editor with an accessible UI enables the efficient definition of tendon geometries in reference to a developed geometry from a geometric axis. Graphical selection and multi-edit allow for efficient modification. The integration into SOFiPLUS-(X) along with its 3D capabilities enables quick geometry checks and fast turnaround times during design.

To modify individual tendons use the Modify Tendons command (tendon_poly_m_small).

Note

Combining Slab PT with Shell PT or Beam PT in a drawing is not recommended. Of course Shell PT and Beam PT can be mixed.

Elements with reference to a geometric axis could be modified and duplicated within the context menu of the sidebar. The following options are available for use:

Edit with PT Editor…: Opens the marked element in the PT Editor.

Clone…: Creates an additional tendon on the selected tendon geometry.

Copy…: Copies the selected tendon geometry and all assigned tendons with an offset.

Copy to a different axis…: Copies the selected tendon geometry and all assigned tendons and projects it to another axis. The second axis must have the same number of placements. It is recommended to use span stations for the definition of tendons. Therefore the copied tendon will be set to the right stations.

Erase: To delete the marked element.

Collapse all: Closes all entries in the sidebar.

If no entry in the table is selected, the general properties of the tendon geometry are shown on the left-hand side of the dialog. In addition to the name, these are the following entries:

Considered Elements

By default, the TENDON program prestresses all elements found along the tendon geometry (AUTO). However, by specifying an element type, you can specify that only certain element types (area or beam elements) should be prestressed. A detailed description of the available setting options can be found in the chapter ‘TGEO – Duct geometry’ of the manual TENDON.

Type of geometry

Shows the used P/T geometry. A detailed description of the geometry can be found either in the chapter ‘PTUV – Constraining points of the spline duct geometry’ or chapter ‘PTSV – Constraining points of the polygonal duct geometry’ in the manual TENDON.

Prestressing System

For each tendon geometry a prestressing system must be defined. This is used for all tendons belonging to the tendon geometry.

Considered Groups

By default, all element groups are taken into account. By specifying group numbers, however, it can be determined that only certain groups (primary and secondary groups) should be taken into account. A detailed description of the available setting options can be found in the chapter ‘GRP – Group Control’ of the manual TENDON.

If an entry is selected in the table at the bottom left, the geometric properties of the tendon geometry are shown on the left side of the dialog. Here the properties of several points of the tendon geometry can be changed simultaneously.

Creating Stations#

The PT-Editor allows the definition of a tendon geometry by specifying constraint points along a geometric axis. Additional points can be inserted by using the right click option in the table. The geometry will be affected by the following input parameters:

  • Type of the point

  • U Horizontal distance from reference axis

  • V Vertical distance from reference axis

  • Radius of the bend

  • Length of the bend block

Note

The table in PT Editor also allows to directly inserting tables from the clipboard by using crtl+v.

Modifying Stations#

The position of a point can be changed by editing the value ​​directly in the table.

Generating Tendons#

On the previously defined single tendon geometry (Tab Edit Geometry) one or more tendon(s) may be created. Structural properties such as the construction sequence and prestressing forces can be assigned to each tendon individually. Additional tendons can be inserted by using the right click option in the table or by using the command Create Tendon.

If a tendon is marked, the properties are shown in a property bar on the right side of the dialog. In the upper part there are general properties of the tendon. In the lower part one can modify properties for the calculation of the friction.

Prestressing#

Stressing forces are computed automatically considering stressing sequences, wedge slip, friction, wobble, etc. The user, however, can limit the max force/stress/factor of the tendon at individual points:

Prestressing: According to AASHTO

This option is conform to the chapter ‘PAAS – Prestressing limits according to AASHTO’ of the manual TENDON.

Prestressing: According to Eurocode

This option is conform to the chapter ‘PSIG – Prestressing limits according to Eurocode’ of the manual TENDON. A description of the possibilities and the default values can be found there.

Prestressing: With Factors

This option is conform to the chapter ‘PFAC – Prestressing limits with factors’ of the manual TENDON.

Prestressing: Manual Prestressing

This option is conform to the chapter ‘PDEF – Manual prestressing’ of the manual TENDON.

Prestressing: Additional Data

This option is conform to the chapter ‘PDAT – Additional data of the prestressing’ of the manual TENDON.
