Rebar Dialog#

In the Rebar Dialog you can define and modify the Family and Definition of rebar sets in Rebar System.

Rebar dialog is divided into following tabs: Parametric Pattern and Model.

Parametric Pattern tab#

Rebar Sets#

  • Transverse rebar set - the shape is distributed along the path between start/end of the path.

  • Longitudinal rebar set - the rebar set is interpolated according to shape along the path between start/end of the path.

  • Add rebar set - adds a rebar set. The new rebar set inherits the family and definition of the selected one.

  • Delete rebar set - deletes a selected rebar set.

  • Match rebar sets - activates a multi-select modus. Definition or parameters changes for one set will affect all selected sets.

Family#

  • Shape family - select a Shape Family to place its shapes according to the Kind along the path.

  • Parameters - you can give a constant value to the parameter, assign a parameter to a variable or to an axis, an edge or a line.

  • Preview - In preview window, you can see the selected Shape Family. The selected shape will be highlighted in the preview.

Definition#

  • Shape - a list of the available shapes in shape family.

  • Path:
    • Start/End
      • Association type - define the type of start/end of the path, the evaluation of variables, offsets and the position of the shapes occurs accordingly. You can specify the start/end on the path using placements, normalized parameter (values from 0 to 1) or segment lengths.

      • Local Rotations - define or override shape rotatons at start/end of the path. The shape adopts start/end placement rotations automatically.

      • Measure from - You can measure the start/end of a path from the beginning or from the end of the path.

      • Placement/ Parameter/ Normalized - you can insert a value or pick a placement according to the Association Type.

      • Offset - defines an offset between start/end of rebar set and start/end of the path according to the selected measurement type (curve parameter, arc length, horizontal projection, chord length, projected chord length).

  • Settings:
    • Properties:
      • Host - select a component or an axis as a host for the Rebar system.

      • Inherit Parametric Pattern:
        • Host - if it is activated, the rebar set inherits parameters values and variation type from its host. Parameter names must be identical in both host and rebar set family.

        • Origin Set - if it is activated, the rebar set inherits parameters values and variation type from its Origin Rebar Set . Parameter names must be identical in both rebar set families.

      • Kind - transverse, longitudinal. defines if the shape is distributed or interpolated along the path.

      • Orientation - Orthogonal to path, Vertical. defines the orientation of the shapes in Rebar set.

      • Rotation:
        • Ignore: any rotation of start/end path will not influence the generation of the rebar set.

        • Pure rotation: the shapes will be parameterized according to the position along the path and rotated accordingly.

        • Shear Mapping: the shapes will be projected on a plane according to local rotations of start/end path. Shape geometry will be changed. Please be aware, that only linear interpolation of profiles is supported and the dimensions will be changed. Vertical curvature of a path and non-linear variable can influence the dimensions.

      • Bond Type - define or override bond type of the shape (specify where the bar diameter should be created according to the shape).

      • Bar Type - list of available bar types in project.

      • Hook at Start/End: list of available hook types in project.

    • Layout:
      • Rule: Specifies the layout rule for a rebar set.

      • Justification: You can measure the spacing between shapes along a path from the start, center or end of shapes.

      • Measurement Type - Specifies the calculation method of spacing along the path.

      • Quantity: Specifies the number of rebars to use in the set

      • Spacing: Specifies the distance between shapes within a set.

Model View#

A simplified demonstration of the available rebar sets, the path and the host of the system. You can check the definition and parameters of the available rebar sets before they are generated in the Revit model.

  • Show selected/ all - you can choose between showing a selected rebar set or all rebar sets in system.

  • Level of Detail slider - for better visualisation and input control, you can adjust the detail level using the slider under the model view.

Note

Hooks, bar diameter and the real spacing are not visualised in the model view.
